Crocodile Leather was founded in the quiet streets of Bordeaux, Johannesburg, out of a simple conviction: that the most extraordinary material on earth deserves to be treated as such — slowly, deliberately, by a small team of hands.

"We do not produce. We compose."

Every hide that enters our atelier is sourced from CITES-certified farms in Southern Africa. We select only the centre cuts — the most symmetrical scales, the most luminous lacquer — and reject more than we accept.

From there, the work passes through a sequence of disciplines: cutting, skiving, edge-finishing, hand-stitching, hand-painting. A single handbag may take twelve weeks. A pair of shoes, a little longer. We make no apology for the time.
